Elopements
A wedding ceremony can be a big public affair or a private and intimate declaration between two people in love. Both are awesome in their own way and it really comes down to the couple as to what suits them.
An elopement is a great opportunity to focus on the sentiment of the ceremony and make it a very personal experience. A lot of couples who elope choose a location of significance to them, and take the opportunity to speak from the heart about their love and their marriage.
I can help plan and perform legal elopements that reflect your personalities and reflect your wishes to have a private declaration of your feelings.
If you plan to elope it is important to know that the same conditions apply to any marriage ceremony in Australia.
- Completing the Notice of Intended Marriage prior to one month before the marriage date.
- Having the ceremony witnesses by two people over the age of 18. The celebrant is not allowed to act as a witness to the marriage.
- Using your full names at some point during the ceremony.
- The celebrant must introduce themselves and explain the nature of marriage according to Australian Law (know as the Monitum)
- Using the legal wording for Vows during the marriage ceremony.

A commitment ceremony is a celebration of love without the legalities of marriage, but with the same desire to express to the world your commitment and love for each other. It can be performed in the presence of all of your friends and family or as a private, intimate ceremony with just the two of you.
This type of ceremony would suit a couple who choose not to have their commitment legally recognised as a marriage or as a way that same sex couples can celebrate their love and dedication to each other.
A commitment ceremony can be performed similar to a marriage ceremony without the legal requirements or with the freedom to create and write a truly unique and personalised ceremony.
