5 Ways to celebrate your postponed wedding date

So COVID-19 has really put a spanner in your weddings plans. You’re locked in, locked down and due to social distancing you’re not even allowed to drown your sorrows with your wedding party at your local trampoline venue (thank you Scomo!)

Here’s some ideas as to how to successfully self isolating, maintain a 1.5 metre distance from your partner and enjoy the day that was going to be the party of the century.. but has since been pushed back to a time when people can be in the same room, and no longer feel the need to stockpile toilet paper like its gold bars. Leave your own suggestions or ideas in the comments below:

  1. Have a dinner date with your fiancĂ©. Find an awesome local business (because #supportsmallbusiness) that is offering ready made, amazing meals and purchase yourself something a little more exotic than just an uber order of Maccas. Dress your dining room like its the Ritz, candles, fancy non-plastic cutlery and even those weird wine glasses that were gifted by your Aunty at your engagement party that you don’t care if you break. Dress up – spend the day getting awesome. I’m talking shaving bits, moisturising and hair – all the things. Sit down, phones off and enjoy an incredible dinner, heated up by you but cooked by someone else, and enjoy some one on one time without feeling like you legally have no other option. PS Do not forget dessert!
  2. ZOOM PARTY! Truth be told 90% of people didn’t know about Zoom until COVID-19 but we do now. Zoom is a teleconferencing app that enables you to video conference with up to 100 people for 45 minutes for free. Sign up – download and then invite all your wedding guests to call in and share a drink with you online with your favourite tunes pumping!
  3. Wedding Plan. Put the time to good use. Sit down with your partner and go through all that you have planned, and what needs to be redone, reconfirmed and reshuffled. Given that you have a new wedding date – will you have more money available to book that DJ or videographer? Are you going to downsize numbers? If anything the Corona virus has shown us a new perspective on life and a new way of doings things.
  4. Treat Yo Self (and Each Other). Buy each other something thoughtful and useful. (Again think local and small to support the little guys doing it tough). It doesn’t have to be a physical gift either – being stuck at home with a million hours to spend it’s a great time to investigate online courses and options. What’s the one thing he/she has always wanted to do? Learn a language, learn to cook? Think outside the box.
  5. How does one put this…. Well, there’s the two of you. A quiet house, a need to connect. You join the dots on that one and get back to me. If you can’t figure it out, there’s always scrabble or reading a book. Either way – Enjoy.
There’s always some time to chill.
