You can get married in Australia in a calendar month as long as you have completed a Notice of Intended Marriage, had it signed by an appropriate witness and given the paperwork to a celebrant or submitted the paperwork at registry office.
The current requirements to get married, at the date of publication are:

- Give the complete Notice to a celebrant or lodge with the registry office.
- Show the celebrant / registry officer your passports or birth certificates and drivers licenses and also any relevant documents like divorce papers.
- Wait 1 calendar month from the date you lodged your paperwork with the celebrant/registry officer.
- Sign the Declaration of No Legal Impediment with your celebrant.
- Participate in a marriage ceremony (yes this is different to a wedding).
- The celebrant will then lodge your paperwork with the state Birth, Deaths and Marriages authority.
